Special DORF 2019 award for lifetime achievements we give to Slobodan \u0160ijan, serbian film director, writer and visual artist. He made many experimental films and videos, but also directed some of the most popular Serbian narrative feature films and wrote a number of books about film and visual culture. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Belgrade voted his film Who\u2019s Singing Over There (1980) for the Best Film made in former Yugoslavia in half a century. Other important features includes Strangler vs. Strangler (1984), How I Was Systematically Destroyed by Idiots(1983), The Marathon Family (1982).<\/p>\n
Since 2001, he is teaching at Loyola Marymount University Film School. He is author and editor of several volumes, among others Vertigo, Cinematographic Poems (1998), Women Film Directors in South Eastern Europe (2009) and Conversations around Film (2010). His work in the domain of visual art investigates the phenomenon of film, moving images, photographic registration and reproduction of reality.<\/p>\n
His works are so important for our festival and our generation \u2013 our parties and lives wouldn\u2019t be so fun and interesting if there wasn\u2019t his movies.<\/p>\n
Special DORF award for contribution to the underground scene goes to Antonije Pu\u0161i\u0107, better known as Rambo Amadeus. On Wikipedia you can find this: \u201eHe is a Montenegrin recording artist, composer and performer, living and working in Serbia. A self-titled \u201cmusician, poet, and media manipulator\u201d, he is a noted artist across the countries of former Yugoslavia.<\/p>\n
His songs combine satirical lyrics on human nature and silliness of local politics with a mixture of musical styles including jazz, rock, hip-hop and lately drum and bass, and self-conscious ironic wit; His concerts are never mere repetitions of recorded songs, but a mixture of musical improvisation and humor exploiting all aspects of human nature in a crude manner. Some fans compare his style and career path with Frank Zappa.\u201c<\/p>\n
We can just add this \u2013 there wouldn\u2019t be any DORF festival if we didn\u2019t have had so many of Rambo Amadeus in our lives and thoughts\u2026<\/p>\n
