Regional selection DORF 2018, during August, in Primosten and Vinkovci, will deliver 6 recent movies from Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia. Premiere screenings of movies about cult slovenian avant-rock champions Laibach and pioneer of electronic music Miha Kralj are most expected among many regional music documentary fans.
Third movie in series “Music is the art of time”, about most important albums of slovenian rock music history, directed by Igor Zupe is focused on eponimous debut album, from 1985. Find out more about exciting first days, with exclusive archival footage and fresh approach to this great band – packed in innovative format “movie goes exactly the same time as the vinyl goes”. Nord Cross Production crew already has 2 DORF winner laurels, just like Dusan Moravec, director of “Electric dreams“, filmed in RTV Slovenia production. Movie gives amazing details about “yugoslavian Jean Michel Jarre“, his music from the end of 70’s still sounds fresh and unique, and author follows Miha Kralj and his stubborn vision and passion to electronic.
We are proud to present “Louder Than Guns”, from director Miroslav Sikavice – story about soundtrack of croatian war for independance and role of the music in the battles. For ethno music fans, there is a movie „Veja“, filmed by Neven Mihael Dianežević about multitalented Goran Farkaš from Istria (Pazin) . If you are more into croatian pop music, there is nostalgic love letter to innocent childhood „Pope, come back“ by director Toni Volarić – on legendary poet and journalist Momčilo Popadić, who wrote impressive list of pop anthems.
Author Milan Nikodijević, presents his latest movie “Trapped time”, on legendary journalist and music fan Petar Peca Popović, who travels across former Yugoslavia and meets his friends and musicians in the search for answers about past, present and future of rock and roll in this region.
Jury – Varja Močnik (director and curator, author of last years DORF winner), Siniša Labrović (multimedia artist and performer) and Boris Hrepić Hrepa (musician and author) – will decide who will be this year’s winner.
For unique DORF sculptures is responsible, like for the previous edition – young and talented Miro Župa, sculptor and comic genius.
Author of DORF 2018 visuals is awarded young designer Martin Peranović, from Otok.
Special DORF awards this year are dedicated to literature heroes – award for lifetime achievements we give to Vojo Šindolić, translator, poet, journalist, editor and the man who introduced us with american underground authors and masterpieces. Special DORF award for contribution to the underground scene goes to „Šareni dućan“, small label with amazing catalogue of important books.
